Candidate Statement
Dear Ontario Voter:
My name is Sam Crowe, and I’m asking for your vote for City Council.
I’ve lived in Ontario most of my life, graduated from Chaffey High School, attended UCLA, and graduated from USC Law School. My wife also graduated from Chaffey, and we raised our three children in Ontario, sending them to local public schools.
I’ve served Ontario as Mayor Pro Tem, Council Member, Planning Commissioner, City Attorney, and Airport Commissioner—all of which give me a unique perspective regarding our city’s strengths and unrealized potential.
I am the only candidate that has administratively supervised Ontario Airport, and I negotiated the Ontario Mills development which increased our city’s revenue and brought needed jobs.
For the past 6 years, I’ve served you on the Ontario-Montclair School Board, and under my leadership, our schools were recognized by the State of California for:
-
10 Point Increase in Student Achievement
-
PROMISE SCHOLARS program, increasing the number of College-ready students
-
Creating a “Young Chefs” Cooking Class
-
Opening the Ontario-Montclair Parent Education Center
-
Saving millions of dollars through a district-wide Solar/Energy Efficient program
I’m running for City Council to bring the same level of expertise, leadership, and ethics to Ontario City Council. But, it isn’t enough to have the necessary experience—it is necessary to have new ideas.
MY PLAN
-
Safe neighborhoods a priority
-
Put more officers on patrol
-
Find real solutions for our homeless population
-
Expand our Parks and Recreation programs for children, Seniors, Veterans, and families
-
Create a City-School partnership with after school tutoring, athletics, music and the arts
-
Make City Hall Responsive to You
-
Restore civility to council meetings by establishing a Code of Ethics
-
Empower residents by restricting special interest influence through campaign contribution limits and term limits
The city of Ontario does not operate in a vacuum. It is necessary to work with our area State Assembly, State Senate and Congressional Elected officials. I am endorsed by all these elected officials and have experience working with them to solve local issues.
I would be proud to serve you on the City Council and would appreciate your vote.
